Members,

I hope you all are having a great summer.

I just wanted to provide a short recap of the year and remind everyone that the Metropolitan Healthcare
Security and Safety Association has been working hard to provide you with the best educational opportunities
along with a peer forum. This past season we have had speakers talk about the Fire Director’s program,
violence in healthcare, suspicious mail and packages and HIPAA and fraud investigations.

We started a new relationship with the NYPD who attended two of our meetings and discussed bomb
response city wide along with their relationship and response to hospitals during a city wide disaster.

Vendors like Lenel, Accutech, Salto and OnSSI supported our organization by sponsoring our meetings this
season. Thank you to them and their contributions to the organization.

We have another great season planned for you this year including a ASIS/ IAHSS sponsored two day seminar
right here in New York in conjunction with ISC East. The dates are November 2 and 3. I hope you all will make
an effort to attend.

And again, have a great summer.

Sincerely,

Bernard J. Scaglione, CHPA, CPP
Chairperson of the New York City Chapter of IAHSS
